“So what’s the plan here?” asked Ironrein, “Do we need to fight a dragon or something?”
“No, I think the best plan of action is to find out what exactly we’re up against here,” said Lucan. The whole group nodded in agreement.
“Well I know this is inconvenient but, Lucan, we need to go; we have school tomorrow,” said Haron. I completely forgot, thought Lucan.
“I have to finish up some math homework!” Lucan announced, a bit unnecessarily, “Sorry but we gotta go, let's meet up back at the npc camp tomorrow.” The team agreed, said their goodbyes, then Lucan and Heron left.
“I should head home now,” said Donatello, “See you at school.”
“See you later. I’ll keep the scar a secret for as long as I can. Let’s just see if we can’t figure this thing out,” said Luk. Donatello left his house and went home.
“Mom, I’m back,” he called out as he walked into the house.
“Hello, Donatello,” his mom replied. C.H.A.R.L.E.S. came into the room, “Welcome back Master Donatello. Would you like anything to eat or drink?” he asked; Donatello always referred to C.H.A.R.L.E.S. as a he.
“Sure, could you bring it up to my room?”
“Yes, Master Donatello,” replied C.H.A.R.L.E.S. Donatello headed up to his room. It's 7 now I can probably finish this work in an hour, he thought to himself and got to work.
"Where is C.H.A.R.L.E.S.?" Donatello wondered aloud, "it's been 10 minutes." Almost as if summoned C.H.A.R.L.E.S. came immediately into Donatello's room, and, strangely enough, without anything for Donatello.
"Where's the food?" asked Donatello, trying not to sound rude. He treated C.H.A.R.L.E.S. with respect, even if he was a robot. C.H.A.R.L.E.S. didn't respond, so Donatello asked again, but still the robot didn't respond. He just stood there glaring at Donatello. He hadn't noticed it before but C.H.A.R.L.E.S. eyes weren't the same blue as usual, they were more of a red sprinkled with flecks of yellow.
Then the robot moved forward faster than Donatello could react. C.H.A.R.L.E.S. Grabbed Donatello by the arms with an unbreakable grip.
"LET ME G-" was all that Donatello was able to yell before C.H.A.R.L.E.S. cut him off. His voice wasn't the usual robotic sound that C.H.A.R.L.E.S. made; this was a deeper, more intense, almost raspy-like voice of a man .
"Do not interfere in what you do not understand!" The voice sent chills throughout all of Donatello's body. He tried to formulate a question, but, terrified, he only managed to ask one thing:
"Who are you?" C.H.A.R.L.E.S. had lessened his grip on Donatello when he asked that, this could be my chance, he thought to himself. Then C.H.A.R.L.E.S. had spoke in that same raspy voice "You and all the rest of them will find out in due time!"
Donatello didn't hesitate after that, he tried to run towards the door but as soon as it looked like Donatello was going to get free, C.H.A.R.L.E.S. had tightened his grip again, yanking Donatello violently back. Donatello heard C.H.A.R.L.E.S. laugh menacingly and then everything went black.
